Black & Versatile

I could begin with the endless quotes that speak about timelessness of the “little black dress” (LBD) inspired by Coco Chanel for years to come by her fashion radicalism, or how Audrey Hepburn made it into an essential icon garment that placed the LBD on the elegant sophistication pedestal with the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. But instead, I’ll just show you the new LBD styles, the ones you should really invest in now and why.

It’s a colour with depth. Black is bold, but still approachable, when styled with a contrasting accessory (you can go as jazzy as you like, as seen with the yellow bag below) or paired with an oversized jacket/ blazer.

Soft feel fabrics, puffed sleeves, elasticated bust and the décolletage-exposing square necklines showing skin are a big and seductive trend that will surely be a hit for the upcoming seasons, with historic style icon Marie Antoinette leading the way.

You can wear black at any time. You can wear it at any age. You may wear it for almost any occasion; a ‘little black frock’ is essential to a woman’s wardrobe.” – Christian Dior
